The Atri Museums:
Chapter Museum
It is located within a Benedictine cloister and houses walnut cabinets carved by Carlo Riccioni, as well as a large assortment of liturgical vestments and a Madonna and Child attributed to Luca della Robbia.
Archaeological Museum
It is located inside eighteenth-century buildings and is divided into two rooms, one dedicated to the prehistory of our territory and the other displaying two burials discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century.
Ethnographic Museum
This is a large collection of over two thousand items that bear witness to agro-pastoral culture. There is also a section dedicated to industrial archaeology where various machines and antique equipment used for liquorice production are on display.
CASTELLI CERAMICS
A veritable museum dedicated to the early Middle Ages where the history of castellan majolica is retraced. The Madonna nursing her Child by Orazio Pompei is certainly worth mentioning.
ROSETO AND THE CELOMMI MUSEUM
This collection is located on the ground floor of the nineteenth-century Palazzo della Villa Comunale in Roseto. On display in the collection are the works of the painter Pasquale Celomi, who initiated the 'Painters of Light' movement.
CAMPLI ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The museum is connected to the Campovalano necropolis and the route is an impressive reconstruction of the evolution of the funerary rite. The most ancient funerary monuments are marked by large tumuli with stone circles, which are also found in the Marche area.
MUSEUM OF THE PEOPLE OF ABRUZZO
This museum is located inside the borboni barracks in Pescara. Here the history of man in Abruzzo is told, from his first appearance as a Palaeolithic hunter. The exhibition is accompanied by a photographic exhibition.
BIRTHPLACE OF GABRIELE D'ANNUNZIO
The building is located in Pescara, where the famous poet was born and spent his childhood. The house epitomises the true 19th-century style of the period with elegant decorations and original furnishings.
FRANCAVILLA AND THE MICHETTI MUSEUM
In Francavilla, inside the former town hall, there is a gallery dedicated to Francesco Paolo Michetti, an artist who lived most of his life in Francavilla. The Michetti Museum also hosts exhibitions by young local artists.
